A BWWM second chance romance by Lisa Ryan Campbell is a Cain and Abel story. Shannon Spencer returns home to Gypsy Bay after three years in prison for manslaughter for the murder of her brother-in-law Cody Spencer. Her attorney and childhood friend offered her an option of money and moved anywhere except for coming back to Gypsy Bay. Shannon is on a mission to save the man she was once married to from a danger that only she was aware of. She should have never taken the offer from Cody Spencer even though the reason she accepted his offer was no longer there. Gray Spencer, the ‘rich boy’ Sheriff, wants to know why his ex-wife murdered his brother; she would never tell him no matter how many times he can to see her. Gray doesn’t remember anything about that night, and by the time he woke from his coma, his wife was in prison for murder. When things are revealed, both Gray and Shannon are shocked by the betrayal of those they loved. I really enjoyed this story, while Shannon may have appeared to be weak, she showed strength in protecting Gray from the danger they didn’t know they were about to face.
I was a bit confused by the Epilogue; it was a repeat of the past instead of telling what happened in the couple in the future. I enjoyed reading this series, and I know I probably haven’t read the books in order.
