Breaking the Epigraph

Books are my passion

Book review | My thoughts ~ The Hunt: Interracial Love Story (Consumed by the Heat Book 1)

1 min read

When I first came across this book, I was very excited to obtain a new author and a new book to read. However, what I received was quite different. Alexander Hunt is a businessman and the head of the largest drug-dealing ring. Alexander meets Kristine Martin, a Jamaican transplant, who works a waitress. The first couple of chapters the book seemed interesting, until further interaction between Alexander and Kristine.

I could not complete this story, it was not the gripping tale of romance, sex, and murder.

Here are a few things a had a problem within this story:

  • There is not a businesswoman that I aware of who wears 6inch pumps to the office;
  • To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware of the head of a drug-ring who would allow the man who is beating on a child he looks to be his son, to live;
  • The head of the largest drug-dealing ring also works as a masseuse; and
  • Kristine gives Alexander a cunning smile, in the scene where this takes place she flirting with him. (The definition of cunning is having or showing skill in achieving one’s ends by deceit or evasion.) Kristine was not being deceitful in this scene.

  1. I generally agree with your reviews, but I have to disagree with you on this one. I actually enjoyed the book. There were a few elements that I would have preferred be more realistic while I was about 50%, but after finishing it I found that the plot twists made most of it make sense. The love interest is not really a businesswoman so I think those little drops were all clues of her past life and twists close to the end. Give it another go at finishing it if you get a chance. I’m not really a fan of cliffhangers but I will be looking out for more books in this series.
